Gambling institutions in many states incurred significant financial losses due to the coronavirus pandemic. For many of them the most successful measure to recoup the income decreasing is legalization of betting on sport events.

This week two Minnesota legislators will introduce a legislation directed to the legalization of sports betting in the state, that at the moment is already legal in the majority of states including Iowa and South Dakota.

According to the words of the republican Patrick Garofalo who is sponsoring the legislation together with the Democratic senator Karla Bigham, “if South Dakota managed it, Minnesota will achieve it as well.”

According to the words of Garofalo, income is one of the most important factors impelling the paying, but it is not the only one. In his words, sports betting can bring to the state the approximate sum from 40 up to 50 milliards dollars in a year.

Football fans are supporting this legislation. They showed it in one of the popular sport-bars of Minnesota, Mac’s Industrial Sports Bar.

In spite of the fan’s strong support, Garofalo does not hope that the legislation will be introduced into force soon. He claims that the government of Minnesota is acting a bit slower than the government of other states.

Garofalo talks about states such as Michigan which submitted online-games and sports betting the previous week. Although the legalization process was slow and took a year.

According to the opinion of some sports supporters, illegal sports betting in the USA are rated in milliards. In case it will be legalized, the income will work in any state’s favor.

In order for the state Minnesota to take up the lead of Michigan and Georgia and pass the law, Garofalo appealed to all people who support legal sports betting to say about it to their elected acting officials.
